Ngozi, Burundi: Empowerment of former inpatients
The Ngozi Neuropsychiatric Centre (NPC) organises agropastoral activities to empower former inpatients in need to help them provide for their medication and so to reduce relapses linked to the non-compliance with the treatment.
Former inpatients are trained in modern agricultural techniques and in raising small livestock. The poorest are provided with seeds and piglets when these are available. If financially possible, the Ngozi NPC is considering improving the breeding of goats and piglets to be able to assist a considerable number of former patients in need.
